Vegetarianism: A healthy and popular lifestyle

There has always been mixed feelings towards vegetarianism and whether it’s a good or bad thing but as the years go on it’s popularity has increased.

“I think people become one to release themselves from basically harming animals, some people do it just to do it and others do it for cleansing their bodies,” said sophomore Denaisha Penman.

Recently the popularity and sort of trend of vegetarianism, veganism and other healthy lifestyles has grown greatly due to just the fact of not wanting to harm animals.

“But there are also a lot of people who just basically live that way based upon religion and such but me personally I’m doing it because it makes me happy,” says Denaisha Penman.

Pro vegetarians claim that animals are being too just like people and have emotions and connections. Scientific studies show that cattle, pigs, chickens, and all warm-blooded animals can experience stress, pain, and fear.

“Well, I think that’s a pretty healthy and happy lifestyle. It can make you feel more cleansed inside. For some it makes them feel better about not eating animals and makes you realize how eating some meats can really back up your system,” said Denaisha Penman.

Many say that eating meat has been an essential part of a human's diet for millions of years and is natural. Stating that it is a part of life and living.

“I could never be a vegetarian because I just like meat too much and it seems too difficult,” said freshmen Jason Strowhorn.

A big benefit to a vegetarian diet is the effects it can have on your body. Many vegetarians claim they feel a difference in there energy and overall body.

“I think it’s a pretty cool lifestyle and has a pretty great outcome one your life,” said Denaisha Penman.

While it’s seen as a great and healthy way to feel better inside and out, many complain that meat is the most convenient and simplest way to get the protein you need. Saying it’s a difficult and expensive lifestyle to keep up with.

“Salads and vegetables be expensive. Vegetarian options and meats are probably more expensive than normal meats. I just think it’s too much,” said Jason Strowhorn.

The vegetarian diet will never be liked by everyone but it is slowly increasing and becoming more popular among everyone. No matter the reason someone does it, it positively impacts them and the environment.
