Turn-A-Bout 2018

This year’s Turn-A-Bout took place on Saturday, Jan. 27. With only 40 people, many still had fun. Turn-A-Bout is a formal dance where the girls ask the guys to the dance instead of the typical guy ask girl.

There was a Spirit Week that took place and some people participated in it. On Monday there was Superheroes vs. Villains. On Tuesday it was Grandparents Day where students were dressed up as grandparents, and boy did some people really go all out! Wednesday, was Celebrity Day and there were a lot of famous celebrities in the building. Thursday was Throwback Day, and Friday was Spirit Day and also the day of the pep rally.

The pep rally consisted of the dance team performing, color guard, a dance contest, and free-throw contests between teachers and students.

Student Angely Tobal-Fernandez said “The pep rally was pretty small and lame compared to the Homecoming pep rally, but the teams that performed were great.” Elizabeth Conley said pretty much the same thing, but added “It was really boring”.

Student Maeve Dillon performed the National Anthem during the pep rally. Emily Stawicki says “I thought she was really good and I wondered how long she had practiced for (since she was amazing).” Kamryn Freeman said “ I think she has an exceptional voice and has real talent.”

Turn-A-Bout catered from Aurelio's up the street and had great food. They had pizza, salad, mostaccioli, and punch.

Mayah Lopez said, “It was great, they had more different kinds of music and can request songs that you want and they had great food.”

The theme for Turn-A-Bout was Winter Wonderland and had snowy decorations. It took place in the school cafeteria with the DJ in the front. The Turn-A-Bout queen was crowned as Caitlyn Heckenast and the Turn-A-Bout princess was crowned as Angelica Fields. They were escorted to the stage by Steven Klenk, who also sang the National Anthem, but at the Homecoming pep rally this school year.

Football star Grace Miller had attended the dance and claimed that “I honestly thought Turn-A-Bout was cute and fun! You just had to make it fun and be with your friends. I was with my friends the whole time and and we had fun because we made it fun! The decorations were cute. Maybe if more people would have came, move the dance into the gym [it would be better], but this year it was nice.”
