Are The Looks Worth It?

“Ooh! Look at those boots… Aren’t they so cute?” “Those boots out of your price range..” “And? They’re still cute”
That is one of the many scenarios that deal with what goes on in this world. Fashion, or to be more specific: clothes. Apparently clothes have been one of the many topics talked about in Crete-Monee High School. At said school, even though it has not been said, it seems that in order to fit in you have to dress a certain way. That certain way is that you have to dress in new and special designer brand clothes.
“I think the reason the new clothes style is special because everyone just wants to have the brand new "cool" items.” Says Dylan Schaefer, a sophomore in Crete-Monee. And some other students would agree to this based on what they have seen people wear all around the school.
Clothes overall are just an object is used to cover our birthday suits. Sometimes however people do not have the luxury of getting new ones. Most of the people that go to Crete-Monee would not be able to afford new apparel because of bills and/or more important things that is need to be bought. That’s why you would have to set a budget when you go to a department store that sells normal attire.
“I do not make a habit of purchasing new clothing on a regular basis so I do not have to establish a budget.” commented Courtney Walker, a parent of a student that goes to Crete-Monee.
But what about the students? Do they set up a budget when they get money? Well, I asked two different Crete-Monee students this question. “The prices are far out of my budget.
If it fit into it however, I would buy it because that's what I like.” answers the first student, Dylan Schaefer.
The other student named Stephanie Kapanowski comments, “Yes they do. I would get it depending on what else I have to buy.”
Another topic that seems to be booming in the high school is makeup. Makeup is one of the main four things that most of the high school girls are wearing to school. However, the topic itself wasn’t discussed that much on during the year. A thing that these young adult
females do not understand is that makeup is a tool to enhance the face. Makeup is not a mask for you to hide just because you hate the way you look in public. That is why there should be a restriction and an age limit on when you can wear makeup. Also, the young women that do wear makeup need to properly taught on how to use it to only enhance your natural features.
“I think it would be appropriate starting at the earliest 16. For many pre-teens it can cause them to have low self esteem when not wearing it.” says Dylan, answering a question about this topic.
Another parent of a Crete-Monee High School Student named Cheryl White, also commented about this, “At age 13 to 14, light applications of eyeshadow and lipstick would probably not be excessive though unnecessary. Teaching how to properly apply complimentary makeup to a young teenager is more important than allowing them to plow through make up, thinking that changing what is seen will change who and what they are.”
And finally the cost of both clothes and makeup combined. Majority of the school alumni are buying more of these two things than tutoring classes and learning apps. Overall, if the high school boys and girls focus more on their academics than fancy clothes and other things then they can do that stuff after they graduate high school.
