At Crete-Monee high school the girls basketball teams are going to have an amazing basketball season. This season the stakes are high and the varsity, sophomore, and freshman players are ready to play. “I’m expecting us to win most of our games and stay focus. We need to keep up our grades so that we can keep playing,” said Machayla Free. The girls basketball team aren’t only a team, but they are a family. When one needs help all are there for that person. They want their competition to know that they are not going down without a fight. They are confident in playing against great competition. “I’m expecting all of my teammates to be on the same page. We all need to win conference and go even further than conference. We need to make it to regionals,” said Arriyon Phillips. The girls are very determined to win especially the seniors. It is their last year and they want to make something great out of it. Basketball is what the players want to do for their career. They don’t take it lightly and they never will. “I’m expecting the team to grow, but I’m also expecting myself to grow. I need to be better with defense and offense,” said Ariel Henry. During offseason the players work hard to stay in shape for the season to come. In order to be an athlete they have to stay in shape and put the right foods into their body. “I prepare for basketball season by playing AAU and going to conditioning before the season starts. I need to stay in shape,” said Casmine Warr. The girls have amazing chemistry on and off the court. The relationship is strong and full of love and honesty. When playing they make sure that each player is playing their hardest. There is no slacking in practices and games. “I feel like we got good chemistry, because most of the girls that are playing have been there for about three years. And everybody is cool, so we go be good,” said Shamarre Hale. The varsity players are a really big help and they are leaders for the freshman and sophomore team. “I just love my teammates. I’m so glad that I have them and that we can do things that other teams can’t do, because we have awesome chemistry,” said Ma’Kaiya Vercher. There’s nothing like having a great support system. They might have disagreements and they might get upset at each other, but they have love for each other. The games are going to be amazing, so make sure you go and support your teams. This season is going to be the best season yet.
