Dating no longer a thing?

Has dating changed through the years? Teenagers feel the need to have a love life. Moreover, this tends to be girls more or less than boys. When two people get into a relationship adults sometimes call their love infatuation. In our generation dating is not taken as serious as it was in the past. Although, this may be the case in other generations people fell in love with each other and did not care what people around them thought. In this day and age relationships are based on other people’s thoughts and rumors being heard. “I feel as if there is not anything wrong with dating in High School. In our school we do not really date anymore we just “talk”. Talking is perceived as dating, but there is no actual asking out a person. When people talk they feel as if there are no attachments, they are not as loyal to one another. They are not really claiming an individual as their boyfriend or girlfriend. They will not feel like they are being judged if they do not claim a person. If our generation was different, I think teenage dating would be better as in terms of preparing us for marriage. We would not let our peers determine who we go out with or if we should break up with someone.” said, Sophomore Brooke Simmons. Most teenagers do not care about being loyal in relationships or even looking into their future for getting married one day. Our school judges you based on who is dating who and if that person is “popular” or not. Some students make their peers uncomfortable by doing so. “I feel vulnerable to anyone in school when my boyfriend is not here because people ask me a lot of questions about my relationship” said, Sophomore Sanaia Jenkins. Contrary some students believe that dating has not changed throughout generations. “I personally think dating has not changed in High School and dating as a teenager is fine. It just depends on who is in the relationship with one another. You also have to be focused on your main priorities and have to be able to multitask” said, Sophomore Damaris Ford. Jenkins and Ford both agreed on this topic in saying that dating is okay as long as you have good time management and your priorities in order. Dating in High School has changed a little bit over time, but social media has a lot to do with this change in our generation. Some teenagers think it is cool to judge people or make them feel uncomfortable because of who they are dating. Your peers should not decide who you should or should not go out with because of their opinions. Only you should decide, be your own person, chose these decisions for yourself.
