Every year, Black Friday welcomes many people inside stores to buy, buy, buy. Some stores have let up as much as 95% off of items in the store, and people go nuts for it, buying and taking, leaving with cartfuls of toys, clothes, and electronics, all for only spending a couple of bucks. There are just a couple of issues though. Long lines, rambunctious shoppers, and it starting the day before, on Thanksgiving. Some stores, including Macy’s,Old Navy, Target, Five Below, and Victoria’s Secret have their sales starting early Thursday evening, which is when Thanksgiving dinner is usually served in some households. Those stores, thinking that they’ll get more money by opening earlier, are sabotaging families by stealing away their guests from dinner to go their stores to buy into their sales. Many people aren’t happy about this happening, and deciding to boycott stores, them making less money. Due to this, corporate officials are also starting to care about employees more working on this family day,and now decided their stores to close all day completely, and only opening at midnight, on Friday, when Black Friday truly begins. Every year, many employees get fired because they’ll take try to take off on Thanksgiving, a day when families and friends get together and say thanks. They get fired because this is one of the biggest days of the year where shoppers will buy, and fill the stores, where employees are needed. Their bosses threaten them to fire, forcing them to stay and work, or leave their job to spend time with family. Ikea, H&M, Marshalls, Bed Bath & Beyond, and Hobby Lobby are all closed on Thanksgiving day, but opening the next day for the sales. Now many stores are even having their sales online, which is a smart move, for the moment at least. Because of the stores having sales online, people don’t have to leave their families for sales, but doing it all online, saving you all that hustle and stress. “It’s better [having the sales] at midnight, that way we don’t have to rush through dinner and can be more leisurely.” said Dawn Wilczek, a yearly shopper on Black Friday.
If you don’t shop for Black Friday, you aren’t likely to experience to roudyness of strangers taking what they want, pushing and rushing to get what they want, being completely rude. If you’re against it, there are many reasons for. There are good reasons why you should shop though, including the reasons that they boost company's sales and sometimes make little improvements with the store, or the items they carry. They could also pay the employees more, or fund more training to those stores that need it.
