Many people wonder which one tells the story better: books or movies. Books are full of imagery and descriptive words and movies are full of beautiful graphics. “Movies are visual representations of most books. Books without pictures make people use their imaginary minds, but sometimes their minds can’t picture things,” said Shaun Leonard. Books have a beautiful way with words. The words pull people in when they least expect it. “Books give a better description and explanation. Movies change the most important parts,” said Kennedy Pierce. Movies have less time to give people the full story. Movies are known to be the easy way out of reading the book. Movies have a better way of getting to the important parts quickly. Movies catch eyes in an instant. “The Berlin Boxing Club should be turned into a movie. Watching movies is better than reading,” said Trinity Griggs. According to buzzfeed.com, Forrest Gump was better than its original book. In the movie they got to the point and made it entertaining. The book and movie Everything, Everything caused people to talk about the difference between the two. According to seventeen.com, Olly and Maddy get to interact more, Olly and Madeline’s reunion is simplified, and ect. Movies seem to make people interested and entertained, which causes it to leave out certain things. “Movies make me more interested about the world I live in. Movies are quick and easy and books take days,” said Leonard. Books are patient and they use foreshadowing to keep the reader’s attention. According to Robert M. Hutchins, editor in chief of the Great Books of the Western World, “These books are the means of understanding our society and ourselves. They contain the great ideas that dominate us without knowing it.”
“Books are better than movies. Even though movies are quicker and easier to visualize, books are so amazing. Imagery is so beautiful,” said Pierce. A book always has a moral or theme. Books make minds think without knowing it. According to selfmadescholar.com, shutting yourself off from a more extensive world of knowledge, you limit your ability to excel. “Books and movies are different, but they both have one job. Their job is to entertain the reader and the audience,” said Griggs. Both are supposed to tell a story. Stories are supposed to entertain people. “I can’t choose between the two. They both are different and important in today’s society. Books and movies are a way to connect with one another,” said Leonard.
