Crete Monee is a school with good athletics and even better academics. It’s really hard to downplay a school with such high credentials and that does so much for the community. Anything is possible right? Over the last few years, the number of fights and stolen items have slight increased. Some people blame the students responsible for tarnishing the reputation of Crete and others have directed their anger at the security guards. “I do feel safe at Crete, but to a certain extent. The school does try to prevent dangerous situations and they have very fast and appropriate reactions. However, when it comes to enforcing rules I believe the school is too concerned with minor things such as ID’s and passes” says Rita Townsel, a junior at Crete Monee High school. There is some mix feelings about whether if Crete is a place where you don’t have to look over the shoulder. It’s a shame how a group of people, the faculty, work so hard to give the upcoming generation a winning chance at life and for it to be tarnished because of a few bad apples. “I do not feel safe at Crete Monee High School, but I do not blame the security guards or anyone part of the staff for that matter, I blame the students” says Cortni Lewis; she is a junior from Crete. Security in the eyes of most of Crete is very adequate. Most of the opinions were in favor that Crete is in safe hands and very well protected. “I always compared Crete to an airport, I feel really safe at Crete. I almost feel too safe which isn’t a bad thing. There is no reason why anyone should be concerned with their safety at Crete. Every school has their fair share of difficulties, but that’s normal. The staff have been doing their job and doing it well. “Security is always on the lookout. Fights, theft, and any other inappropriate acts are not common because security has their heart and soul into their job. They have the upmost respect for this school and will do anything to protect it” says Jacobi Dixon who is a senior at Crete. We have to band together as a whole student body to protect our stomping grounds. We are the only ones that can give Crete the reputation it deserves. It’s up to us, it always has been and it always will be. U’S UP.
