With a new school year just starting, a few weeks in it's good to hear from some of the students, new and returning ones.

Michael Groen is new to the high school as a freshman. He doesn't have many friends, but a lot of acquaintances. Destiny Williams is a returning student as a sophomore. She has made some new friends, but still keeps up with her other ones too. “No, I don't like high school,” said Michael. Destiny has a more different point of view on school. “Yes and no, my first year there was a little drama, but this year is starting off good.” School always takes time to get used to and know how to make it fun while learning survival skills for when you're on your own. Clubs and sports are a good way to make new friends and help make school more fun, as long as you can meet expectations or requirements. There are so many good choices here at Crete-Monee for clubs. Clubs and especially sports are a good benefit for a college application, because they can give you a higher chance of getting into one of interested. They also benefit social skills, self-esteem, and they are skill building activities, not just for survival but others as well. “Yeah, wrestling and anime,” Michael said. Destiny said, “yes, GSA (Gay Straight Alliance) if it’s still here, anime, and broadcasting.” Not everyone may know what they are going to do after high school. It is great to know what to do ahead of time, so you can start finding colleges and trying to get up to the scores you need for scholarships. There are many options, but the main two are start work right away or go to college. Earning a degree from college, opens many opportunities in your life of adulthood, as it prepares you for your career. College always looks good on a job application, and it's almost a guarantee to get the job you want. “Yeah, either for nursing or something in the medical field,” Destiny stated. Michael stated, “of course for photography.” It was so much fun to get different views on school at the beginning of the year. It embarks on a new journey of life, and it can go two ways. Good or bad. With new people around the corner, telling a different story not knowing where it will lead. Just make it count and don't take the little things that happen too seriously, unless it school work, take that seriously.
