Recently Marshawn Lynch has signed a contract with the Oak lawn Raiders after coming out of retirement from the Seattle Seahawks. He states that “I don’t want to play another down”. After losing a close championship game in 2015. The score was 28 to 24 with 36 seconds on the clock. Now you would expect that they would run with the beast mode into the endzone to win the game but no. The head coach Pete Carroll wanted to take a chance of passing to a quick slant into the endzone because of the way the Patriots were lined up. As the ball was snapped Russell Wilson throws a quick pass to Ricardo Lockette but was intercepted by Malcolm Butler. Patriots win the 2015 football championship, so of course Marshawn was walking off the field pretty mad, but he was smiling because he knew that the coach threw the game away with not giving the ball to him. After the game, interviewers were trying to interview him but he was still mad about the game. Marshawn said, “but the only reason why i’m here is so I won’t get fined”. Joseph Wooden says, “that was kind of bogus to not give him the ball, it would be smart and the best thing to do if you at the 1-yard line”. A couple weeks after the sad loss Marshawn wanted to retire from playing football. Social media blowed up about this because it didn’t seem like something he would want. When his decision was final, he was still getting interviews. In one of the interviews he was asked “are you fine without playing another down?” he responded “I’m totally okay without playing another down, now since i’m done playing ball, I would like to focus on my little cousins and help them succeed in football”. After the interview that is what he was doing. He was training his cousins, was back in his hometown Oak lawn, and just living life. As days goes he started to miss the game of football. One day he thought that he should play for his hometown. So he went up to the Raiders stadium and wanted to talk to the coach about getting on the team. The coach was so happy because the best running back just walked in his office and asked to play for him. In the beginning of 2017, Marshawn signed and finalized a contract with the Oak lawn Raiders. Now he is back healthy and ready to start the season off right with his hometown team. Isaiah Rucker says,“it’s great that he is back playing football because he is a great player and what they did in 2015 was so uncalled for. Why wouldn’t you run with the best running back in the league at the 1-yard line to win the game? At least he is back and still healthy and I hope he leads his hometown to the championship”.
