Homecoming: A Bust Or A Must?

Annually, there is a homecoming dance at a high school. Students always rave about it, saying how good it is, or maybe how lame.
First, they have a spirit week, which usually goes by a theme for each day. It might start off with just wearing funky socks, and maybe end with class colors. Secondly, they usually try to raise money for the dance, to pay for the DJ, and the refreshments, or try and get money from sponsors.

Lastly, they try to get everyone excited, but they spread way too much enthusiasm to everyone in the school, and it just doesn’t work out because they’re too bummed that they’re in school anyway. Well, typically if there is a homecoming dance, there is a homecoming football game right before the dance starts. Well, this year at CMHS, there are games during the lunch periods during spirit week. On Monday, they’re having Hawaiian Day. On Tuesday, they’re having Twin Day, where mostly everyone dressed up the same as a friend. Wednesday, they’re having Character Day. Lastly, on Thursday they’re having Class Color Day. This year at Homecoming, they aren’t serving food at the dance, they have candy. “I think that there should be food for everyone to eat, not candy, not everyone can have candy,” said student Anya Wallace. Secretary of Student Government Caitlyn Heckenast said that Student Government has improved a lot with the dance and with school activities over last year. “We have so many new members and are currently planning to have more activities going on throughout the school year, compared to last year.” said Heckenast. Heckenast went on to say that she believes the fieldhouse at Crete is the perfect place to have the dance. She said that because it’s a ‘school’ ance it should take place within the school. “The fieldhouse is pretty big, so I think that it is plenty enough room to fit the students inside. There are tons of decorations set up throughout, so it won’t feel like we actually are inside the fieldhouse,” said Heckenast. “This year’s homecoming might be a must,” said student Angely Tobal-Fernandez. Caitlyn also said that this year’s homecoming is a must, as it was last year. “I think that this year’s homecoming would be a must! We’re working extremely hard to make sure it it’s enjoyable for everyone!”
