Administration Fairness

While students at Crete seem to feel as though they are treated with fairness by administration, they also would like to see some things change at CMHS as well. “Individually students are given respect and treated fairly as long as they gave the respect in return. As a group, if a kid doesn’t fit in they are mistreated by other students. Every student is treated in fairness at CMHS by the administrators,” said student Emelia Narug. Narug did say, however, that she would like to see the vending machines be turned back on since the prices for the snacks are lower than they are at the snack shack. She also said that during lunch students would like to be able to sit in the corridor by the gym. Emelia has agreed that the violence and fights were a bit out of hand, though this can’t be stopped completely, it is always possible to raise the punishments. “I believe the policies against the female students are a little too much; we should be able to wear leggings. The male students should be punished for catcalling/unwanted touching towards the females attending the school,” she said. Also adding things about the bullying policies, “Sometimes they don’t see the full picture, or they shove it to the side and ignore it.” Jordan Helsel stated that she had been bullied the year before and they didn’t do anything, besides tell the other students to stop. The clubs already available are great and offer a lot for the students, Emelia is hoping for a cooking or baking club. Jordan would like more clubs having to do with Japanese/Korean culture. The KACC and Prairie State programs have helped several students greatly; the availability is enjoyed by Emelia who hopes to get a head start on College. Next year, she will be in her senior year and will be joining the Prairie State program. The two students would like to see some improvement in the lunch menu quality. Jordan said she doesn’t buy the school lunches anymore because she says the food is terrible. Emelia would like to see some additional foods added to the menu: such as french fries in the main meal and bagels for the morning dishes.
